Doxyvic Injection is also used to treat many sexually transmitted diseases. It helps to improve your symptoms and cure the underlying infection. It is given as a drip (intravenous infusion) into a vein by a doctor or a nurse. You should get the injection regularly at evenly spaced intervals for maximum benefits. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening.

The most common side effects of this medicine include skin reaction on exposure to sunlight (photosensitivity), vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea. Avoid excessive sun exposure and use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Some people may develop temporary redness or pain at the site of injection. These side effects are usually mild but let your doctor know if they bother you or last more than a few days.

Before using it, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any antibiotics. You should also let your doctor know all other medicines you are taking as they may affect, or be affected by this medicine. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctor before using it. It may blur your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

It stops the growth of the bacteria causing the infection and clears the infection. Take it for as long as prescribed by the doctor and avoid skipping doses. This will make sure that all bacteria are killed and they do not become resistant.

Treatment of Acne
Doxyvic Injection treats acne, commonly called pimples. It kills the acne-causing bacteria and prevents spots or pimples from appearing. It usually takes a few weeks to have a noticeable effect so keep using it even if it appears not to be working. Doxyvic Injection is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.

Breast feeding

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Doxyvic Injection is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Driving

UNSAFE

Doxyvic Injection may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Visual disturbances such as blurring of vision may occur during treatment with doxycycline.

Kidney

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Doxyvic Injection is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Doxyvic Injection is recommended.
However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.

Liver

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Doxyvic Injection is safe to use in patients with liver disease. No dose adjustment of Doxyvic Injection is recommended.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Doxyvic with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Life-threatening

Tretinoin (Oral Route)

Do not consume Tretinoin with Doxycycline.

Severe

Isotretinoin (Oral Route)

Do not consume Isotretinoin with Doxycycline.

Severe

Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated) (Oral Route)

Do not consume Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated) two weeks before and at least 10 days after consuming Doxycycline. Please consult your doctor. Doxycycline may reduce the efficacy of Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated).

Severe

Acitretin (Oral Route)

Do not consume Acitretin with Doxycycline.

Severe

Phenindione (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for bleeding and consult your doctor immediately. They may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Doxycycline may increase the effect of Phenindione.
