Iron overload, as the name suggests, means excess of iron in the human body. Too much iron can cause organ damage, which can lead to conditions such as cancer, irregular heartbeat and cirrhosis of the liver. Symptoms are related to conditions that arise from iron overload such as high blood sugar levels (diabetes), darkening of the skin, abnormal heart rhythm or arthritis. By using Desifer 400 Tablet, this excess of iron can be decreased to safe levels by removing it from the body through stools. This helps to reduce the risk of organ damage and prevents further complications. Take Desifer 400 Tablet as prescribed by the doctor to get the maximum benefit.

Desifer 400 Tablet traps and removes excess iron which is then excreted mainly in the stools. This reduces the risk of organ damage.

Quick tips

Desifer 400 Tablet is used to reduce excess iron from the body.
Inform your doctor if you also have upper stomach pain, clay-colored stools, or jaundice (yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes).
Take an adequate amount of water while taking Desifer 400 Tablet.
Desifer 400 Tablet may cause dizziness. It is advisable not to drive or operate any machinery until you feel normal again.
If you are taking any antacid, take them 2 hours before or after Desifer 400 Tablet.
Inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney disease.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Desifer with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Acenocoumarol (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for bleeding and consult your doctor immediately.

Dexamethasone (Oral Route)

Inform your doctor if you notice any signs of bleeding (bruising, bleeding gums, blood in stool/vomit/urine).
