Using this medicine can cause some common side effects such as injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling) fever, decreased potassium level in blood, headache, and decreased blood pressure. Let your doctor know if any of these side effects do not go away or get worse.

How Convizin Injection works

CONVIZIN 20 MG INJECTION is a vasopressin antagonist. It works by blocking the effect of the hormone vasopressin in the body. This increases urine production, reduces the amount of water in the blood and raises the blood sodium level.

Quick tips

  • CONVIZIN 20 MG INJECTION is usually only given in a hospital to treat low sodium levels in the blood.
  • It also improves urine flow without causing the body to lose too much sodium as you urinate.
  • It is given by an injection or drip into a vein (intravenously).
  • To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
  • To avoid dehydration, it is best to drink something as soon as you feel thirsty.
  • You may need to wait at least 1 week after your last dose of CONVIZIN 20 MG INJECTION before you can begin taking certain any other medicines.
  • Your doctor may check your liver function before starting treatment and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you notice yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, or stomach pain.
  • Inform your doctor if you notice problems with your speech or muscle control, trouble swallowing, trouble moving your arms and legs, or mood changes.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Convizin with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

CONVIZIN 20 MG INJECTION reduces the level of a hormone that regulates the balance of water and salt (sodium) in the body. By doing this, it improves urine flow without causing the body to lose too much sodium as you urinate. This helps treat hyponatremia (low sodium levels).
This medicine should not be given if you are allergic to corn products, or if you are having difficulties in urinating.
