Clatis 250mg Tablet is an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections. It is effective in most infections of the respiratory tract, ear, nose, throat, lungs, and skin. It is also effective against a bacteria known as H. pylori, which is associated with peptic ulcer disease.

Product introduction

Clatis 250mg Tablet is also effective against some infections (e.g., MAC or Mycobacterium avium complex) seen in people with reduced immunity. It stops the bacteria from growing, which helps to resolve your symptoms and cure your infection. This medicine is taken orally, preferably either one hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening.

Common side effects with this medicine include diarrhea, nausea, indigestion, abdominal pain, headache, vomiting, and rash. These are usually temporary and subside with the completion of treatment. Consult your doctor if you find these side effects do not resolve or persist for a longer duration.

Inform your doctor if you have any previous history of allergy or heart problems before taking this medicine. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using this medicine.

Treatment of Bacterial infections
Clatis 250mg Tablet is an antibiotic medicine that can be used to treat many different infections caused by bacteria. These include infections of the respiratory tract, ear, nose, throat, lungs, and skin. It is also effective against a bacteria known as H. pylori, which is associated with peptic ulcer disease. It stops further growth of the bacteria causing the infection and helps treat your infection.

This medicine usually makes you feel better quite quickly. However, you should continue taking it as long as it is prescribed even when you feel better, to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.

Side effects of Clatis Tablet

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

How to use Clatis Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Clatis 250mg Tablet may be taken with or without food.
Avoid Clatis 250mg Tablet with tyramine-rich food such as cheese, smoked fish, meats and some types of beer.

How Clatis Tablet works

Clatis 250mg Tablet is an antibiotic. It works by preventing synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Thus, it stops the bacteria from growing, and prevents the infection from spreading.

Quick tips

  • Your doctor has prescribed Clatis 250mg Tablet to cure your infection and improve your symptoms.
  • Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection to come back and harder to treat.
  • Take it 1 hour before or two hours after food.
  • Do not take antacids 2 hours before or after taking Clatis 250mg Tablet.
  • Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it doesn't stop or if you find blood in your stools.
  • Stop taking Clatis 250mg Tablet and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Clatis with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects
Life-threatening

Pimozide (Oral Route)

Do not consume Pimozide with Clarithromycin.
Life-threatening

Ranolazine (Oral Route)

Do not consume Clarithromycin with Ranolazine. Clarithromycin may raise blood levels of Ranolazine.
Life-threatening

Domperidone (Oral Route)

Do not consume Domperidone with Clarithromycin.
Life-threatening

Simvastatin (Oral Route)

Do not consume Simvastatin with Clarithromycin. If Clarithromycin is essential, your doctor may temporarily stop Simvastatin. Clarithromycin may raise blood levels of Simvastatin.
Life-threatening

Ivabradine (Oral Route)

Do not consume Ivabradine with Clarithromycin. Clarithromycin may raise blood levels of Ivabradine.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, the use of Clatis 250mg Tablet can cause diarrhea. It is an antibiotic which kills the harmful bacteria. However, it also affects the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. If you are experiencing severe diarrhea, talk to your doctor about it.
Usually, Clatis 250mg Tablet starts working soon after taking it. However, it may take some days to kill all the harmful bacteria and make you feel better.
Inform your doctor if you don't feel better after finishing the full course of treatment. Also, inform him if your symptoms are getting worse while using this medicine.
There is no firm evidence to suggest that the use of Clatis 250mg Tablet will cause infertility in males or females.
