How Slipam Capsule works

Slipam 30mg Capsule is a benzodiazepine. It works by increasing the action of a chemical messenger (GABA) which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.

If you are taking Slipam 30mg Capsule for the treatment of insomnia, it should not be used for more than 4 weeks.
Take it 30 to 45 minutes before bedtime and only when you have time to sleep for at least 7 hours.
The addiction / habit-forming potential of this medicine is very high. Take it only as per the dose and duration advised by your doctor
Never share your medication with any other person who also has a sleep problem.
It may cause dizziness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you.
Avoid consuming alcohol as it may increase dizziness and drowsiness.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
If you have been taking this medicine for a long time, regular monitoring of blood and liver functions may be required.
Stop taking medication and inform your doctor If you experience sleep-driving or memory loss.

Pregnancy

Slipam 30mg Capsule is highly unsafe during pregnancy. It can cause serious harm to the unborn baby, including birth defects and pregnancy loss. Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

Breast feeding

Slipam 30mg Capsule may be unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby. It should be used only if the expected benefit outweighs the potential risk. Please consult your doctor.

Driving

UNSAFE

Slipam 30mg Capsule may decrease alertness, affect your vision, or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
As Slipam 30mg Capsule may cause side effects such as reduced alertness, confusion, tiredness, dizziness, poor muscle coordination and this may affect your ability to drive.

Kidney

CAUTION

Slipam 30mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.

Liver

UNSAFE

Slipam 30mg Capsule is unsafe to use in patients with liver disease and should be avoided.
Use of Slipam 30mg Capsule is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

Taking Slipam with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms of Flurazepam side effects such as drowsiness, excessive sedation, tiredness, dizziness or slurred speech and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the dose of Flurazepam as per the observations. It is advised to avoid driving or undertaking other tasks requiring skill and alertness.

Severe

Clozapine (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, tremors, sleep disturbances or mood changes and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the doses as per the observations.

Taking more than the recommended dose of Slipam 30mg Capsule may cause drowsiness, confusion, tiredness, difficulty in speaking, trouble in coordinating movements (ataxia), breathing difficulty, and impaired vision. Excess of Slipam 30mg Capsule may rarely cause coma (loss of consciousness for a period of time) and very rarely death. Is Slipam 30mg Capsule habit forming?

Slipam 30mg Capsule can be habit forming if you use higher than the recommended doses or for a longer period of time. It can lead to both physical and psychological dependence. This is particularly common in patients with a history of alcoholism or drug abuse or in patients with marked personality disorders. Regular monitoring in such patients is essential. These may include recurrence of sleep problems, depression, nervousness, extreme anxiety, tension, restlessness, and confusion. You may also experience mood changes, irritability, sweating, diarrhea, headache and muscle weakness.
