Headache: Could it be Migraine?

If you have headache that is moderate to severe in intensity, interferes with your daily routine, is associated with intolerance to light and/or noise, nausea or vomiting, you probably have migraine. It can last from 6 – 48 hours.

Some people can have warning signs (aura) before an episode of migraine such as flashes of light, blind spots, or tingling in arm or leg.

COMMON TRIGGERS:

Almost everyone with migraine has one or more triggers. The most common triggers are: stress, sudden temperature fluctuations, irregular periods, missing meals, bright lights or sunlight, under sleeping, perfume, cigarette smoke, foods like chocolate, nuts, peanut butter, banana, onions, dairy products and pickled foods.

USEFUL TIPS:

  1. Identify your triggers and try to avoid them.
  2. Bring changes in your lifestyle:
    1. Get enough sleep.
    2. Exercise regularly
    3. Avoid skipping meals and eat small frequent meals throughout the day
    4. Stay well hydrated. Drink 6-8 glasses of water daily
    5. Avoid stress. Try muscle relaxation exercises like meditation or yoga
    6. Keep a headache diary. It will help you learn about what triggers your migraines and what treatment is most effective
  3. Medication: For headache that occur occasionally, you can take pain relieving medicines like Paracetamol and medicines to relive nausea and vomiting.

When to see your doctor

  • If you get 3 or more attacks in a month
  • Pain is moderate to severe
  • Pain interferes with your daily routine
  • Characteristic and unusual pain
  • Self medication too often

    I have continous headache problem from last 5 years.
    Doctors make test of CT Scan & MRI also but nothing found.
    But still i have continous headache.
    What can i do now ?

      When migrane starts take suminat 25mg and dolo 650 tablets. Within two hours you can relief from the pain. Iam also using the drugs and happy.
