IGLON5 antibody by IFA

The IGLON5 antibody by IFA test checks for IgG antibodies that help confirm IgLON5 disease, an uncommon autoimmune neurological disease. It is a multifactorial disease caused by autoimmune and neurodegenerative processes. It occurs when the immune system mistakenly produces antibodies against the IgLON5 protein, which is normally found in the brain. These antibodies attack nerve cells that control movements, bodily functions, and sleep. As a result, individuals can experience sleep disturbances, trouble walking, speaking, or swallowing, and sometimes memory issues.
