Product introduction

Zisavel Capsule can be taken with or without food. Take it exactly as your doctor has advised. Swallow the whole capsule, do not chew, crush, dissolve, or open the capsules. Continue to take the medicine until you finish your complete course, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping it too early may result in a return of the infection.

The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, increased liver enzymes, decreased potassium level in blood, constipation, breathlessness, cough, peripheral edema, and back pain. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, consult with your doctor. In rare cases, Zisavel Capsule may cause serious liver disease. Get medical help right away if you have any symptoms of liver damage, including persistent nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing eyes/skin, or dark urine.

Before taking the medicine, tell your doctor if you have any known history of allergy to this medicine. Let your doctor also if you have any preexisting medical conditions, especially liver disease and heart problems. This medicine may make you dizzy. Avoid consumption of alcohol while on treatment with this medicine. Additionally, do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you know how the medicine works. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, as it can cause harmful effects to the developing baby.

How Zisavel Capsule works

Zisavel Capsule contains Isavuconazole, an antifungal medicine that blocks the activity of an enzyme that aids in the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of the fungal cell membrane. Zisavel Capsule is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby.

Driving

Zisavel Capsule may decrease alertness, affect your vision, or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

CAUTION

Zisavel Capsule should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.

Liver

Zisavel Capsule should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
However, clinical monitoring for isavuconazole-related adverse reactions is recommended when treating patients with severe hepatic impairment.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Zisavel with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Severe

Ranolazine (Oral Route)

Watch out for symptoms of Isavuconazole side effects such as nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, constipation or weakness and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the dose of Isavuconazole accordingly. Isavuconazole may raise blood levels of Ranolazine.

Severe

Pimozide (Oral Route)

Do not consume Pimozide with Isavuconazole.

Severe

Nevirapine (Oral Route)

Do not consume Isavuconazole with Nevirapine. Nevirapine may reduce blood levels of Isavuconazole.

Severe

Vinblastine (Injection Route)

Concomitant use is not recommended. Please consult with your doctor. Isavuconazole may raise blood levels of Vinblastine.

Vincristine (Injection Route)

Can I stop taking Zisavel Capsule when I feel better?

No, do not stop taking Zisavel Capsule without consulting your doctor even if you are feeling better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured. Therefore, for better and complete treatment, it is advised to continue your treatment for the prescribed duration.

What if I forget to take a dose of Zisavel Capsule?

If you forget a dose of Zisavel Capsule, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next scheduled dose in the prescribed time. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one as this may increase the chances of developing side effects.
