How to use Zaplon Capsule

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Zaplon 10 mg Capsule may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Zaplon Capsule works

Zaplon 10 mg Capsule belongs to a group of medicines called sedative-hypnotics. It works by slowing activity of the nerve cells in the brain and helps fall asleep.

Zaplon Capsule related warnings

Zaplon 10 mg Capsule may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Zaplon 10 mg Capsule may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Zaplon 10 mg Capsule is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Zaplon 10 mg Capsule may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.
Zaplon 10 mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Zaplon 10 mg Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Limited information is available on the use of Zaplon 10 mg Capsule in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease.
Zaplon 10 mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Zaplon 10 mg Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Zaplon 10 mg Capsule is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

What if you miss a dose of Zaplon Capsule?

If you miss a dose of Zaplon 10 mg Capsule, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

Anxiety is the result of a hyperarousal state of nervous system due to a low threshold for threat perception. In simpler words, it's an ongoing flight or fight response. It can elicit a neuro-hormonal response understood as Flight or Fright reaction kicking in physiological cascade of symptoms ranging from palpitations, tachycardia, breathlessness, increased bowel movement, increase frequency of urination, dizziness, muscle tension or pain, trembling, dizziness, blurring of vision to restlessness, confusion and fainting spells. Chronic stress causes prolonged anxiety response with the consequences of slowed cognition , lack of concentration, headaches, fluctuations in blood pressure, irritable bowel syndrome with persistent Bowel movement issues and increased wear and tear of body tissues. Other somatic symptoms can also be seen like feeling of obstruction in throat or thrust tightness, stomach ache, nausea, recurrent vomiting, increased body temperature, feeling of electrical sensations or ants on skin ( paresthesia) etc. The interest in routine activities like eating, socialising with friends and family and sex goes down. Identifying your stressors, learning to deal with them, de stressing regularly by doing something that makes one feel good, yoga and meditation are some non pharmacological strategies to deal with it.
