Valparin 200 Oral Solution is an anti-epileptic medicine. It is used to treat and prevent seizures, mania and migraine. This medicine should not be stopped abruptly without consulting your doctor as it may increase the occurrence of fits.

How Valparin Oral Solution works

Valparin 200 Oral Solution is an antiepileptic medication. It controls seizures or fits by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.

Valparin 200 Oral Solution may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Valparin 200 Oral Solution is unsafe to use during pregnancy.
There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Valparin 200 Oral Solution is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.
Monitor the baby for unusual bruising or bleeding, jaundice and other signs of liver damage.
Valparin 200 Oral Solution may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.

If you miss a dose of Valparin 200 Oral Solution, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

So, now a month I am facing some severe hair fall. My doctor have suggested me Mintop Tropical solution usp 2 and till now I did't see any improvement to my hair. Q. I have been taking Valparin for a year, and I did not have any episode of seizure during this time. For how long should I take it to cure my epilepsy completely?

Valparin does not cure your condition, it only prevents the seizures from occurring. Therefore, you will have to keep on taking it, maybe for years. Consult your doctor if face any problems while taking this medicine.

Q. What happens if I stop taking Valparin?

You should not stop taking Valparin suddenly. It should be discontinued gradually. Stopping it suddenly may increase the chances of recurrence of seizures. Always consult your doctor if you feel the need to stop taking this medicine.

Q. I have gained weight after I started using Valparin. Is it because of this medicine? What should I do?

Yes, weight gain can occur with the use of Valparin. To control your weight, you should have a healthy balanced diet and exercise regularly. Talk to your doctor if you have any other concerns.

Q. Can I take birth control pills while taking Valparin?

Yes, Valparin does not have any effect on the working of birth control pills. However, contraceptives (birth control pills) may interfere with the working of Valparin and seizures may occur. Q. I am concerned because I have heard that Valparin causes hair loss. Is it true?

Valparin may cause thinning of hair, change of hair colour and even hair loss. If you are concerned talk to your doctor if it is possible to reduce the dose of Valparin. Your hair may regrow after either reducing your dose or switching to a different medicine.
