I wanted to know whether mirena (Harmone IUD) is good option for long term contraceptive option. Please suggest if you see other better option than this.
Dr. Suman Rao
Gynaecologist
Yes mirena is a good option. It will have the added advantage of decreased blood flow during periods ( in case you have heavy flow). The side effects of mirena could be irregular bleeding or spotting or no periods at all after 6-12 months of insertion. Other option is multiload. You can go for that also.
