HIV infection
Stavir 40mg Capsule prevents the HIV virus from multiplying in your body. It helps control the infection and makes your immune system work better. This lowers your chances of getting complications such as new infections and improves your quality of life.

It is not a cure of HIV or AIDS and should not be used to prevent HIV after accidental exposure to a risk. It is important that you take this medicine as prescribed, following the dosage recommended by your doctor. Taking all doses in the right amount at the right times greatly increases the effectiveness of your combination of medicines and reduces the chances of your HIV infection becoming resistant to antiretroviral medicines. However, taking this medicine will not prevent you from passing HIV to other people.

Breast feeding

Stavir 40mg Capsule is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby.

Driving

Interaction with drugs

Taking Stavir with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Didanosine (Oral Route)

Do not use Didanosine with Stavudine. If concurrent use is essential, talk to your doctor.

Zidovudine (Oral Route)

Do not consume Stavudine with Zidovudine. If concurrent use is essential, please consult your doctor. Zidovudine may block the action of Stavudine.

Severe

Zidovudine (Injection Route)

Do not consume Stavudine with Zidovudine. If concurrent use is essential, please consult your doctor. Zidovudine may block the action of Stavudine.

Severe

Isoniazid (Oral Route)

Do not consume Isoniazid with Stavudine.

Moderate

Bemiparin (Injection Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, dark urine or jaundice and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the doses as per the observations.
