Product introduction

Sofokast 400mg Tablet should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. It should be taken with food, preferably at a fixed time. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

It has fewer side effects as compared to other similar medicines, like fatigue, headache, nausea, insomnia (difficulty sleeping) and anemia (low red blood cell count). Inform your doctor if these side effects persist for a longer duration. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.

It is not a cure and should neither be used to prevent HCV infection. It is important that you take this medicine as prescribed, following the dosage recommended by your doctor. Sofokast 400mg Tablet, when taken together with other medicines for the treatment of hepatitis c infection, may produce dizziness, blurred vision and this may affect your ability to drive.

Sofokast 400mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
Limited information is available on use of Sofokast 400mg Tablet in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Sofokast with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects
Severe

Rifampicin (Injection Route)

Do not consume Sofosbuvir with Rifampicin. Rifampicin may reduce blood levels and efficacy of Sofosbuvir.

Amiodarone (Oral Route)

Do not consume Sofosbuvir with Amiodarone. If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as breathlessness, fatigue, drowsiness, sedation, faintness, or vomiting, and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may monitor your heart rate closely and adjust the doses as per the observations. Amiodarone may reduce blood levels of Sofosbuvir.
Severe

Do not consume Sofosbuvir with Amiodarone. If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as breathlessness, fatigue, drowsiness, sedation, faintness, or vomiting, and consult your doctor if you experience them.
