Ribasure Capsule should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. It should be taken with food. You should drink plenty of water while on treatment with this medicine as it helps to prevent dehydration and kidney damage. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Some side effects of this medicine include headache, muscle pain, weakness, fatigue, and fever. Inform your doctor if these side effects persist for a longer duration. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.

Treatment of Chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection
Ribasure Capsule works by preventing the HCV virus from multiplying in your body. It helps control the infection and makes the immune system work better. This lowers your chances of getting complications and improves your quality of life. This medicine is always taken in combination with other antiretroviral medicines. It is not a cure and should neither be used to prevent HCV infection. It is important that you take this medicine as prescribed, following the dosage recommended by your doctor. Taking all doses in the right amount at the right times greatly increases the effectiveness of the medicine.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Breast feeding

Ribasure Capsule may be unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby. It should be used only if the expected benefit outweighs the potential risk. Please consult your doctor.

Ribasure Capsule does not usually affect your ability to drive.

Kidney

CAUTION

Ribasure Capsule should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
Use of Ribasure Capsule is not recommended in patients with moderate to severe kidney disease.

Liver

CAUTION

Ribasure Capsule should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Ribasure with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Life-threatening

Didanosine (Oral Route)

Do not consume Didanosine with Ribavirin.

Severe

Azathioprine (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as fatigue, fever, mouth sores, nausea or vomiting and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the doses as per the observations.

Moderate

Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Ribavirin may reduce blood levels of active form of Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate.

Moderate

Zidovudine (Oral Route)

Do not consume Zidovudine with Ribavirin. If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as weakness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, irregular heartbeat, fatigue, loss of appetite, easy bruising or excessive bleeding and consult your doctor if you experience them. Ribavirin may reduce the efficacy of Zidovudine.

Moderate

Lamivudine (Oral Route)

Watch out for symptoms such as weakness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, irregular heartbeat, fatigue or loss of appetite and consult your doctor if you experience them.

Women who are already taking Ribasure Capsule are advised to undergo periodic pregnancy tests.

What if I forget to take a dose of Ribasure Capsule?

If you forget a dose of Ribasure Capsule, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next scheduled dose in the prescribed time. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one as this may increase the chances of developing side effects.

Ribasure Capsule is safe if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Take it exactly as directed and do not skip any dose. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and let your doctor know if any of the side effects bother you.
