Respride Tablet is used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is used in infections of tonsils, sinus, ear, nose, throat, skin and soft tissues, windpipe and lungs (pneumonia).

How to use Respride Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Respride Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.

How Respride Tablet works

Respride Tablet is a macrolide antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth by inhibiting synthesis of essential proteins, which are required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.

  • Respride will cure your infection and improve symptoms.
  • It may cause an upset stomach. If this happens to you, take it with food.
  • Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.

Respride Tablet is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.
Driving
Respride Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
Respride Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Respride Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
CAUTION
Respride Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Respride Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

What if you miss a dose of Respride Tablet?uses

If you miss a dose of Respride Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Q. Is Respride an antibiotic?
Respride is an antibiotic and belongs to the group of antibiotics known as macrolides. Respride prevents bacteria from growing, by interfering with their protein synthesis.
Q. Can I take Respride with food?
Respride is to be taken on an empty stomach at least 15 minutes before a meal. The Respride tablets should be taken with good amount of water.
Q. Does Respride treat streptococcal throat infection?
Respride is used to treat throat infection caused by Streptococcus pyogenes. It is also indicated for other upper respiratory tract infections like tonsillitis and sinusitis. If you think you are suffering from a streptococcal throat infection, please consult your doctor as it requires proper diagnosis before the start of antibiotics.
Q. Can I take Respride with codeine?
Respride can be taken with codeine. No drug-drug interactions have been reported between the two. However, this does not mean that interactions cannot occur. Please consult your doctor before taking the two medicines together.
Q. Does Respride treat urinary tract infections (UTI)?

Q. Does Respride affect the contraceptive pill (birth control pills)?
Respride can decrease the level or effect of estradiol (a component of contraceptive pill) by affecting the normal bacteria in the gut and you may need to take an extra precaution. Please consult your doctor before taking Respride with the contraceptive pills.
Q. Does Respride make you drowsy?
Respride is not known to cause drowsiness. However, dizziness may occur when you have just started taking Respride. Hence, driving, operating machinery or other skillful activities should be avoided if you feel drowsy.
Q. Does Respride treat Chlamydia?
Respride is active against chlamydia species and is used for the treatment of infections caused by chlamydia. Please consult your doctor before taking any treatment if you have been diagnosed with chlamydial infection.
Q. Does Respride contain sulfur?
Respride does not contain sulfur. Please refer to the package insert for more information on the components.
Q. Can I take Respride with alcohol?
As with other medicines, it is not recommended to take Respride with alcohol, although there are no drug interactions reported. Please talk to your doctor before taking alcohol with any medicine.

Q. Is Respride safe for breastfeeding?
