Pravator 20mg Tablet is a widely prescribed medicine and is regarded as safe for long-term use. It can be taken with or without food. You should take it every night at bedtime. Most people with high cholesterol do not feel ill, but stopping your medicine may increase your cholesterol levels, making your condition worse and increasing your risk of heart disease and stroke.

It is important to have your cholesterol levels checked regularly. This medicine is only one part of the treatment program which should also include a healthy diet, regular exercise, smoking cessation, moderation of alcohol intake, and weight reduction. You can eat normally while taking this medicine, but try to avoid foods that are high in fat.

Common side effects of this medicine include musculoskeletal pain, nausea, vomiting, upper respiratory infection, diarrhea, and headache. These are usually mild and disappear after a short time. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you notice any yellowing of your eyes or get repeated or unexplained muscle pains.

This medicine should not be used in conditions such as liver disease. Also, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should not take this medicine as it may harm the developing baby. Diabetic patients should monitor their blood sugar levels while taking this medicine, as it may lead to an increase in blood sugar levels.

Breast feeding

Pravator 20mg Tablet is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby.

Driving

Pravator 20mg Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision, or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

CAUTION

Pravator 20mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.

Liver

Pravator 20mg Tablet is unsafe to use in patients with liver disease and should be avoided.

Taking Pravator with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Nicotinic acid (Oral Route)

Watch out for symptoms such as muscle aches, tenderness, cramps, stiffness or weakness and consult your doctor if you experience them. Your doctor may adjust the doses of Nicotinic acid accordingly.

Severe

Bezafibrate (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the dose of Pravastatin accordingly.

Severe

Ritonavir (Oral Route)

Do not consume Pravastatin with Ritonavir. If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may monitor and adjust the dose of Pravastatin as per the observations. Ritonavir may reduce blood levels of Pravastatin.

Ciclosporin (Oral Route)
