How to use Pepgard Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Pepgard 20 mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

How Pepgard Tablet works

Pepgard 20 mg Tablet is a H2 blocker (antacid). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in relief of acid related indigestion and heartburn.

Alcohol
CAUTION
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Pepgard 20 mg Tablet. Taking a large amount of alcohol can increase acidity and cause acid reflux in the food pipe causing heartburn. This would decrease the effect of this drug and can aggravate your underlying condition.
Pregnancy
PROBABLY SAFE
Pepgard 20 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
Pepgard 20 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
SAFE
Pepgard 20 mg Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Pepgard 20 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Pepgard 20 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
Pepgard 20 mg Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Pepgard 20 mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

What if you miss a dose of Pepgard Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Pepgard 20 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Both Pepgard and omeprazole lower the acid production in your stomach but they belong to the different group of drugs. Studies have shown that omeprazole is more effective than Pepgard in treating heartburn and in rapid healing of duodenal ulcers. However, the effect of these medicines may vary upon individual response.
