Introduction

Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet is a diuretic (water pill) medicine used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). This medicine reduces excess fluid levels in the body and treats edema (fluid overload) associated with heart, liver, kidney, or lung disease.

Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet makes you lose excess water through urine. It may be used alone or in combination with other medicines. This medicine should be taken only during day time to avoid frequent urination at night. You must take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor and never stop it abruptly without consulting the doctor. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel ill, but if you stop taking this medicine, your condition could get worse. This may lead to your blood pressure rising up again and increase your risk of heart disease and stroke.

It is important to have your blood pressure checked regularly. This medicine is only one part of a treatment program which should also include a healthy diet, regular exercise, smoking cessation, moderation of alcohol intake and weight reduction. You can eat normally while taking this medicine, but try to reduce your salt intake.

Common side effects of this medicine include headache, nausea, and dizziness. Consult your doctor if these side effects bother you. Before taking this medicine, its better to let your doctor know if you are suffering from any kidney or liver disease. Use of Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet is not recommended in these patients.
Liver

Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

What if you forget to take Nexclor Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

No, do not take alcohol while on treatment with Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet. Taking alcohol with Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet may lower your blood pressure suddenly making you feel dizzy and lightheaded.

Q. What happens if I take more than the recommended dose of Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet?

If you take more than the prescribed dose of Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet, you may experience nausea, lightheadedness, weakness, fast or irregular heart beat, sleepiness, muscle cramps and pain, difficulty in breathing. Taking this medicine in high doses may even cause a heart attack. In a situation like this, contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency help in a nearby hospital.

Q. Can I take ibuprofen with Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet?

This combination is best avoided since the two medicines may interfere with each other. However, if your doctor advises you to take both ibuprofen and Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet, you will need to keep a regular check on your blood pressure and also monitor your kidney function tests.

Q. Does Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet increase uric acid? Can it cause gout?

Yes, Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet may raise uric acid levels. However, the occurrence of gout due to Nexclor 12.5mg Tablet is very rare.
