Neotroy Injection works by reducing and improving muscle weakness. It is given as an injection under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment and never stop this suddenly without talking to your doctor. However, before taking this medicine it is better to inform your doctor if you are suffering from any kidney disease, Parkinson's disease, asthma, or stomach disorders.

The most common side effects of this medicine are slow heart rate, nausea, and
vomiting. If you any other symptoms which you think are caused by the medicine, you should let your doctor know. They may be able to suggest ways to reduce or prevent the side effects. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult the doctor before taking this medicine.

After an operation, there may be problems in emptying the bladder. This may be due to disturbed coordination of nerves and muscles of the bladder. Neotroy Injection helps to improve this problem and treats postoperative urinary retention effectively.

Reversal of effect of skeletal muscle relaxant after surgery
Skeletal muscle relaxants are given to induce anesthesia and to carry out surgical or certain diagnostic procedures. This blocks the conduction of signals between nerves and muscles. After the surgery, Neotroy Injection is given to reverse this effect and cause muscle contraction again to restore normal function.

How Neotroy Injection works

Neotroy Injection is a reversible cholinesterase inhibitor. It increases the level of acetylcholine, a chemical messenger in the brain, by suppressing acetylcholinesterase (enzyme). This acetylcholine further triggers muscle contracting receptors which helps in muscle contraction.

Neotroy Injection may be safe to use during breastfeeding. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Driving

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

It is not known whether Neotroy Injection alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react. Please consult your doctor.

Kidney

CAUTION

Neotroy Injection should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
Regular monitoring of kidney function test and some blood tests may advised while you are taking this medicine.

Liver

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Neotroy Injection is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data suggest dose adjustment may not be needed.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Neotroy with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Moderate

Norfloxacin (Oral Route)

Caution is advised when taking Norfloxacin with Neostigmine if you have myasthenia gravis (a chronic autoimmune disorder in which antibodies destroy the communication between nerves and muscle, resulting in weakness of the skeletal muscles). Norfloxacin may increase the side effects of Neostigmine.

Moderate

Rivastigmine (Transdermal Route)

If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Neostigmine may increase the effect of Rivastigmine.

Moderate

Thalidomide (Oral Route)

watch out for symptoms such as breathlessness, fatigue, drowsiness, sedation or faintness or vomiting and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may monitor and adjust the doses as per the observations.

Moderate

Amikacin (Injection Route)

Your doctor may monitor the effects of Neostigmine along with your overall treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Amikacin may reduce the efficacy of Neostigmine.

Your doctor may monitor the effects of Neostigmine along with your overall treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Gentamicin may reduce the efficacy of Neostigmine.

Does Neotroy Injection treat myasthenia gravis? How long do I need to take it?

Neotroy Injection relieves the symptoms of myasthenia gravis but does not cure it. It does so by reducing and improving muscle weakness. The length of time for which you need to take Neotroy Injection will depend on your condition. Do not stop taking Neotroy Injection until and unless advised by your doctor, even if you start feeling better.

How long does Neotroy Injection take to start working?

Neotroy Injection takes about 5 to 15 minutes to start working and remains effective for 2-4 hours.

Is Neotroy Injection a steroid?

No, Neotroy Injection is not a steroid. It belongs to cholinesterase inhibitor group of medicines. Neotroy Injection work by preventing the breakdown of a chemical called acetylcholine.

Does it cause weight gain?

No, Neotroy Injection does not cause weight gain. Your weight gain may be due to inactivity related to muscle weakness in myasthenia gravis.

Is Neotroy Injection safe to use?

Yes, Neotroy Injection is safe if used in the dose and duration prescribed by the doctor.

I felt better when I started taking Neotroy Injection but I have noticed recently that I get tired easily and quickly. Will increasing the dose help me?

If your symptoms have started reappearing, then it could be due to increased severity of myasthenia gravis or excess dose of Neotroy Injection. Both the conditions have similar effects, so it becomes very difficult to differentiate between the two. Do not increase the dose on your own and consult your doctor immediately.

Can I take Neotroy Injection for constipation?

No, Neotroy Injection should not be taken for any type of constipation. However, its use is limited to cases of constipation caused by paralysis of intestine and strictly on prescription by the doctor.

What should I do if I accidentally take more than the dose required?

You should seek immediate medical help in case of overdose of Neotroy Injection.Excess of Neotroy Injection may cause stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, blurred vision, difficulty in breathing, and excessive sweating, salivation, and weakness. It can even lead to paralysis.

Does Neotroy Injection have any abuse potential?

No, there is no evidence of Neotroy Injection having any abuse potential.

Who should not take Neotroy Injection?

Neotroy Injection should not be taken by patients who are allergic to it. Patients who are constipated or cannot urinate should avoid its use, unless advised by the doctor. This is because Neotroy Injection is only used for certain types of urination problems and constipation (e.g. caused by paralysis of intestine).
