Frequently asked questions

Minocort Tablet is used as a replacement for the body’s natural mineralocorticoid hormone when someone has adrenal insufficiency (Addison’s disease), or certain salt‑losing conditions, so the body can retain sodium and keep blood pressure stable.
People who are allergic to Minocort Tablet, or any ingredients present in the medicine, or those with active peptic ulcer, active tuberculosis, acute psychosis, or uncontrolled active infections should not take Minocort Tablet unless a doctor says otherwise.
Serious side effects of Minocort Tablet include high blood pressure, fluid retention leading to swelling, or heart failure, low potassium (which can cause muscle weakness or abnormal heart rhythms), and signs of severe infection because Minocort Tablet is a steroid, and it suppresses the immune response. If you notice severe swelling, shortness of breath, fainting, or palpitations, you should get urgent medical attention.
Minocort Tablet causes the body to retain sodium and lose potassium. This can produce hypokalemia (low potassium level) and alkalosis (an increase in blood pH). Low potassium may cause muscle cramps, weakness, or dangerous heart rhythm changes, so regular blood tests to check electrolytes are important.
Yes, Minocort Tablet commonly raises blood pressure and can cause fluid overload, enlargement, or failure of the heart in susceptible patients, so blood pressure and signs of heart failure must be monitored closely.
Because Minocort Tablet is a steroid that suppresses immune responses, infections may be more severe or present atypically. Live vaccines should be avoided, and exposures to chickenpox or measles require immediate medical advice and possible immunoglobulin treatment.
Minocort Tablet can cause psychiatric effects ranging from mood swings, anxiety, and sleep problems, to rare, but serious reactions such as psychosis, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts. Patients and caregivers should watch for new or worsening psychological symptoms.
While you are on Minocort Tablet treatment, your doctor will usually monitor blood pressure, body weight, signs of fluid retention, serum electrolytes (especially potassium and sodium), kidney function, and, when indicated, blood glucose, lipids, and bone health because of the risk of osteoporosis.
Yes, Minocort Tablet is a steroid.
