How to use Macrobid Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. It can be taken with or without food, but it is better to take Macrobid Tablet at a fixed time.
Avoid Macrobid Tablet with tyramine-rich food such as cheese, smoked fish, meats and some types of beer.

Macrobid tablet is an antibiotic. It stops the bacterial growth by inhibiting synthesis of essential proteins, which are required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.

  • Do not start or continue the clarithromycin tablets/suspension and consult your doctor, if you are allergic to clarithromycin or any macrolide antibiotic (ex. azithromycin,).
  • Do not start or continue the clarithromycin tablets/suspension, if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
  • Do not start or continue the clarithromycin tablets/suspension, if you develop severe or prolonged diarrhea during or after receiving clarithromycin.
  • If clarithromycin tablets make you feel dizzy, do not drive, operate machinery or do anything that requires you to be alert.
