Maclar Suspension is used in the treatment of bacterial infections
It is used in infections of tonsils, sinus, ear, nose, throat, skin and soft tissues, windpipe and lungs (pneumonia).

How to use Maclar Suspension

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. It can be taken with or without food, but it is better to take Maclar Suspension at a fixed time.
Avoid Maclar Suspension with tyramine-rich food such as cheese, smoked fish, meats and some types of beer.

How Maclar Suspension works

Maclar suspension is a macrolide antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth by inhibiting synthesis of essential proteins, which are required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.

Missed Dosageuses

If you miss a dose of Clarithromycin, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic, not a penicillin or fluoroquinolone
Maclar is safe if used at prescribed doses for the prescribed duration as advised by your doctor
Maclar can be used to treat bacterial vaginosis unless resistance has not been developed against clindamycin or any macrolide antibiotic (Maclar. azithromycin, etc.)
Maclar is gluten free. However, please refer to package insert of the prescribed brand before use. Maclar is not a sulfa drug/does not contain sulpha
Q. Can I take clarithromycin with amoxicillin, paracetamol, ibuprofen, omeprazole, metronidazole or Nyquil?
Yes clarithromycin can be taken with amoxicillin, paracetamol, ibuprofen, omeprazole, metronidazole or Nyquil. Always consult your physician before use
Maclar does not cause drowsiness when taken as prescribed. But, it may cause insomnia (sleeplessness) and thrush (infection of mouth caused by candida fungus)
When taken with birth control pills, Maclar does not affect birth control.
