Introduction

Hidine Eye Drop belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. It is used to treat seasonal allergic conjunctivitis (infection, itching, redness and swelling of the eye) caused due to pollens, dust, animal fur and other allergens.

Follow your doctor’s instructions precisely for using Hidine Eye Drop in your eyes. It should be used regularly at evenly spaced time intervals as prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.  It may also lead to burning, pain, irritation in your eyes but this effect is temporary.

How to cope with side effects?

The occurrence of side effects varies from person to person. The following are a few ways of dealing with some of the common side effects. However, consult your doctor if these persist.

  • Coping with Eye pain
    Make sure you are using the correct amount of this medicine. Do not use too much and do not use it too often. If the symptoms are bad, there may be an alternative medicine, so talk to your doctor. Do not use other eye drops to ease the discomfort without talking to your doctor. To relieve discomfort, try placing a cold compress over your closed eyes few times a day. Try not to touch or rub your eyes. Wear sunglasses when you are outside. Drink enough water to stay hydrated. Do not keep looking at your phone, computer or television screen for long hours.
  • Coping with Eye irritation
    Try placing a warm or cold pack over your closed eyes. Putting a chilled black tea bag over your eyes may also help. Remove eye and face make-up before going to bed and wash your face and eyes regularly. Rinse your eyelids gently and pat dry with a clean, dry towel. Do not rub your eyes. Raise your head at night to reduce fluid retention. If your condition does not improve, talk to your doctor. There may be medicines available depending on the cause of the inflammation.

How to use Hidine Eye Drop

This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off extra liquid.

Hidine Eye Drop is an antiallergic medication. It works by blocking the action of a chemical messenger (histamine) which is responsible for red, itchy, watery eyes.

What if you forget to take Hidine Eye Drop?

  • You have been prescribed Hidine Eye Drop to relieve red, itchy and watery eyes caused due to allergic eye diseases.
  • If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before putting in these eye drops and wait at least 15 minutes before putting your lenses back in.

Q. Is Hidine a steroid?

No, Hidine is not a steroid. It is a medication which is used to treat allergic conditions. Most commonly it is used to treat allergic conjunctivitis/pink eye. Do not take this medication without consulting your doctor.

Usually, Hidine do not cause irritation of eyes as it helps in reducing the inflammation and irritation in the eye. However, there are chances of eye irritation, abnormal eye sensation, and eye discomfort in some patients.

Q. How long can you use Hidine?

The Hidine should be instilled in the affected eye(s) with one drop twice daily. The duration of treatment with Hidine will depend upon the disease condition, its severity, and the response of the patient to the treatment. The medicine can be given for as long as four months, if considered necessary. However, the exact duration is decided by your doctor.
