How to use Gravidol Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Gravidol Tablet is to be taken with food.

How Gravidol Tablet works

Gravidol Tablet is an alpha and beta blocker. It works by slowing down the heart rate and relaxing blood vessels which makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body.

  • Gravidol Tablet is the first choice medication for treating heart failure and for preventing angina attacks (chest pain caused by heart disease).
  • It may also be used to lower high blood pressure in addition to other medicines which further helps in preventing strokes and heart attacks.
  • It should be taken with food.
  • Check your blood pressure 1 week after starting Gravidol Tablet, and inform your doctor if it hasn't improved.
  • Gravidol Tablet may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
  • It may cause you to feel lightheaded or weak especially when you stand up (orthostatic hypotension).  Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
  • It is best to avoid drinking alcohol while taking Gravidol Tablet as it may make the side effects worse.
  • Do not stop taking Gravidol Tablet suddenly as it can cause your blood pressure to rise suddenly thereby increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Alcohol
CAUTION
Taking Labetalol and alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy
WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS
Gravidol Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
Gravidol Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Gravidol Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
SAFE
Gravidol Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Gravidol Tablet is recommended.
However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended for better dose adjustment.
Liver
CAUTION
Gravidol Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Gravidol Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
