How to use E 2 Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. E 2 TABLET 2 MG may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How E 2 Tablet works

E 2 TABLET 2 MG is an estrogen (female sex hormone). In women who are undergoing or have attained menopause, it prevents symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats and mood swings. It also prevents the bones from becoming porous and fragile (osteoporosis).

Pregnancy
CAUTION
E 2 TABLET 2 MG is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Human and animal studies have shown significant adverse effects on the foetus. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
E 2 TABLET 2 MG is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
SAFE
E 2 TABLET 2 MG does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
E 2 TABLET 2 MG should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of E 2 TABLET 2 MG may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver

Use of E 2 TABLET 2 MG is not recommended in patients who previously had liver disease and the liver function tests are still not normal.

Q. What is E 2 and what is it used for?

E 2 contains Estradiol, which is an estrogen hormone. It helps in treating estrogen deficiency symptoms like hot flushes (red and warm face) and vaginal dryness in women. It is also used to prevent osteoporosis (thinning and weakening of bones) in postmenopausal women, who are at high risk of fractures and have limited treatment choice.

Q. When and how to take E 2?

Take E 2 as per your doctor's advice. However, you must try to take E 2 at the same time of each day, to ensure the consistent levels of medicine in your body.

Q. What if I miss a dose of E 2?

If you miss a dose, you should take it as soon as possible. If the dose was missed by more than 12 hours, you should not take the missed dose and simply continue the usual dosing schedule.

Q. What are the most common side effects which I may experience while taking E 2?

The common side effects associated with E 2 are lower abdominal pain, periods pain, breast tenderness, endometrial hyperplasia (thickening of uterus lining) and vaginal discharge. Most of these symptoms are temporary. However, if these persist, check with your doctor as soon as possible.
