Product introduction

Dolo 650 Tablet helps relieve pain and fever by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that trigger these symptoms. It is used to treat headaches, migraines, toothaches, period pains, arthritis, and muscle aches, and to reduce fever associated with infections such as the common cold and flu.

Dolo 650 Tablet has been one of the most widely prescribed paracetamol-based medications during the COVID-19 pandemic. It should be taken regularly as per the doctor’s advice. Take it with food to avoid an upset stomach. It may be taken alone or in combination with other medications. However, no more than four doses of Dolo 650 Tablet can be taken in 24 hours with a gap of at least 4 hours between two doses. Please do not take it for longer than recommended.

Generally, Dolo 650 Tablet is well tolerated, and side effects are rare. However, it may temporarily cause stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting in some people. Consult the doctor if any of these side effects persist or become bothersome.

Though Dolo 650 Tablet is essentially safe, it may not suit everyone. Before taking this medicine, let the doctor know if you have any liver or kidney problems, are allergic to it, or are taking other medications as this might affect the dose or suitability of the medicine. In general, take the lowest dose that works for the shortest possible time. It is also the first choice of painkillers during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Uses of Dolo 650 Tablet

  • Pain relief : Dolo 650 Tablet helps relieve pain in conditions such as headaches, body aches, muscle aches, toothaches, menstrual cramps, and minor injuries.

How Dolo 650 Tablet works

Dolo 650 Tablet is an analgesic (pain reliever) and anti-pyretic (fever reducer). It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and fever.

Dosage

The dose of Dolo 650 Tablet depends on your age, body weight, the condition being treated, and your overall health. In adults, the usual dose is 500–1000 mg every 4–6 hours. In children, the dose is typically 10–15 mg/kg per dose, administered every 4–6 hours as needed for pain or fever. However, your doctor will decide the right dose and duration of treatment for you.

Do not take more than the prescribed dose, as taking too much may seriously harm your liver. Use Dolo 650 Tablet only for the recommended duration. If your symptoms do not improve or get worse, consult your doctor.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Dolo 650 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Overdose

Overdose may cause serious harm, particularly to the liver. Symptoms may include nausea or vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal discomfort, general malaise, or sweating. In case of suspected overdose, discontinue the medicine immediately and contact your doctor.

Quick tips

  • Dolo 650 Tablet can be taken with or without food, but taking it with food or milk may help reduce stomach discomfort.
  • Avoid taking more than the recommended dose, as excessive use can increase the risk of liver damage.
  • Check the labels of other “cold and flu” medicines, as many may also contain paracetamol. Taking them together can lead to an overdose.
  • Avoid alcohol while taking Dolo 650 Tablet, as it may increase the risk of liver damage.
  • Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, as dose adjustment or monitoring may be required, especially with long-term use.
  • Seek medical advice if you notice symptoms such as dark urine, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or unusual tiredness. These may indicate liver problems.
  • Consult your doctor if the fever or pain lasts for more than a few days.

Frequently asked questions

If you vomit shortly after taking Dolo 650 Tablet, the amount of medicine absorbed into your body will depend on how quickly you vomited after taking it. If you vomit within 15 to 30 minutes of taking the dose, the dose may be repeated.
Dolo 650 Tablet is a widely used pain reliever and fever reducer. It works by blocking certain chemical signals in the brain that cause pain and raise body temperature. It is used for fever and mild to moderate pain such as headaches, toothaches, muscle aches, and body pain.
Dolo 650 Tablet generally begins to reduce fever and relieve pain within 30 to 60 minutes of an oral dose. The effect usually peaks at 1 to 2 hours and typically lasts 4 to 6 hours, after which another dose may be taken if needed.
Yes, in most adults, paracetamol and ibuprofen can be taken together safely. They belong to different classes of medicines and work in different ways, so combining them does not increase the risk of side effects. However, people with stomach ulcers or inflammatory bowel disease, kidney problems, or pregnant women should consult their doctor before taking them together.
Yes, Dolo 650 Tablet is widely considered safe for children, including infants. Do not give adult-strength tablets to young children. Always consult a doctor before giving it to your child.
For most adults, do not exceed 4 g (4000 mg) in 24 hours. The medicine's effect typically lasts up to 4 to 6 hours, after which another dose may be taken if needed. Paracetamol may be present in many other medicines for cold, flu, and pain relief. Taking Dolo 650 Tablet with them may increase the total dose in your body, increasing the risk of liver damage.
If taken at the recommended dose without fever, Dolo 650 Tablet will simply relieve pain without causing any abnormal drop in body temperature. If you regularly take it for ongoing pain without a clear reason, or if your symptoms persist or worsen, consult your doctor for proper assessment.
The liver primarily processes (metabolizes) paracetamol, and taking too much can cause serious liver damage. If you have a known liver condition, discuss your situation with your doctor, as you may require dose adjustment and monitoring.
Taking one extra dose of paracetamol is usually not harmful for a healthy adult. It is slightly above the usual single dose but well below dangerous levels. In such a case, skip the next dose for 8–10 hours. Avoid alcohol, and do not take any other medicines containing paracetamol. Stay hydrated and eat light. However, if you have liver disease, drink alcohol regularly, take repeated high doses, or notice symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain (right side), yellowing of skin/eyes, unusual fatigue, or dark urine, consult your doctor.
Always inform your doctor that you are on blood pressure medication before regularly using any painkiller, including paracetamol. In general, paracetamol is considered one of the safer pain-relief options for people taking blood pressure (antihypertensive) medication, particularly when compared to other anti-inflammatory medicines.
