How to use Dizone Tablet
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Dizone Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How Dizone Tablet works
Dizone Tablet blocks the chemical which breaks the converted form of alcohol in the body. This leads to an increased level of converted form of alcohol in the body causing bad physical features while drinking alcohol.

CAUTION
Dizone Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heartbeat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure with alcohol (Disulfiram reactions).
Pregnancy

Dizone Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Dizone Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Dizone Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Dizone Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Dizone Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
CAUTION
Dizone Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Dizone Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
What if you miss a dose of Dizone Tablet?
If you miss a dose of Dizone Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Expert Advice

  • Do not consume alcohol during the treatment and for up to 14 days after discontinuation.
  • Disulfiram may cause drowsiness or tiredness. Do not drive or operate machinery if you are affected.
  • Avoid taking disulfiram if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or you are breast feeding.
  • Before you take disulfiram inform your doctor about all the prescription, non-prescription, and herbal medicines you are or were taking.
  • Patients who are receiving or have recently received, alcohol, or alcohol-containing preparations, such as cough syrups, tonics and the like, should not take disulfiram, If you drink alcohol during or within 2 weeks of stopping disulfiram a serious and potentially life threatening reaction may occur along with severe symptoms such as flushing of the face and neck, increased body temperature, sweating, urge to vomit (nausea) vomiting, itchy skin or rash caused by an allergic reaction (pruritus, urticaria) anxiety, dizziness, headache, blurred vision, difficulty breathing, palpitations, rapid breathing, rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure, abnormally slow breathing, chest pain, abnormal heart rhythm, coma or fits may occur. 
  • Consult your doctor immediately if you suddenly experience any of these symptoms after stopping the treatment with disulfiram.
