Common side effects seen with this medicine include edema (swelling), dizziness, headache, nausea, constipation, rash, fatigue, hypotension, injection site reactions, and flushing. These are usually mild and disappear after a short time. Consult your doctor if they bother you or do not go away. It may also make you feel sleepy or dizzy, so be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert. Drinking alcohol should be avoided while taking this medicine as it may worsen the side effects.

Before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have any liver or kidney problems. Also, inform your doctor if you have very low blood pressure (hypotension), heart failure, or if you recently had a heart attack and have fluid in your lungs.   • It may cause you to feel lightheaded or weak especially when you stand up (orthostatic hypotension). Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. 
  • It is best to avoid drinking alcohol while taking Dilzem IV Injection as it may make the side effects worse.
  • Dilzem IV Injection slows down the heartbeat and allows the blood vessels in the body to relax.

Taking Dilzem with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Ranolazine (Oral Route)

Watch out for symptoms of Diltiazem side effects such as nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, constipation or weakness and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the dose of Diltiazem accordingly. Diltiazem may raise blood levels of Ranolazine.

Nebivolol (Oral Route)

watch out for symptoms such as breathlessness, fatigue, drowsiness, sedation or faintness or vomiting and consult your doctor if you experience them.

The serious side effects of Dilzem IV Injection include severe allergic reaction, yellowing of the skin or eyes, nausea, extreme tiredness, unusual bleeding or bruising, lack of energy, loss of appetite, and pain in the stomach. One may also experience flu-like symptoms and an increase in the frequency or severity of chest pain (angina). If you experience any of such symptoms immediately contact your doctor and seek medical help.
Your doctor will suggest the duration of time for which you need to take it. Do not stop it on your own or lower your dose. Suddenly stopping it may worsen angina or increase your blood pressure.
