Derbina 250mg Tablet

Overview

Introduction

Derbina 250mg Tablet is an antifungal medicine used to treat a wide range of fungal infections of the skin and nails, including ringworm. It works by killing the fungus that causes the infection.

Derbina 250mg Tablet can be taken with or without food. You should take it regularly as prescribed by your doctor. Taking it at the same time every day will help you to remember to take it. You should also let your healthcare team know all other medicines you are taking as they may affect, or be affected by this medicine. FAQs

Q. Can Derbina be safe for use in patients with liver cirrhosis?

Oral intake of Derbina is not recommended in patients with chronic or active liver disease. The clearance of Derbina is reduced by approximately 50% in patients with liver disease as compared to normal people. Your doctor may prescribe liver function test prior to prescribing Derbina to check whether the liver is functioning effectively or not. The reason is that this medicine gets metabolized by liver enzymes and any inefficiency in liver function can lead to increased blood levels of the medication and increased side effects and toxicity. Therefore, it is important to inform your doctor if you have any liver disease or cirrhosis. Also inform your doctor about the medicines you may be taking as taking Derbina with another medicine can lead to liver toxicity and Derbina by acting on the liver enzymes can change the levels of other drugs. Your doctor may suggest periodic monitoring (after 4-6 weeks of treatment) of liver function test and make dose adjustments accordingly.
