Clozact 50 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of schizophrenia.

How to use Clozact Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Clozact 50 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Clozact Tablet works

Clozact 50 mg Tablet is an atypical antipsychotics. It works by modulating the action of certain chemical messengers in the brain that affects thoughts.

Alcohol
CAUTION
Clozact 50 mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Pregnancy
PROBABLY SAFE
Clozact 50 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Clozact 50 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
If Clozact 50 mg Tablet is used, monitor the baby for excessive sedation. Periodically, keep a check on the baby's white blood cell count as well.
Driving
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
You may feel tired, drowsy, dizzy or you may feel faint while taking ClozapineClozact 50 mg Tablet, especially during the early stages of treatment. This may affect your driving ability.
Kidney
CAUTION
Clozact 50 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Clozact 50 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Clozact 50 mg Tablet is may not be advised in patients with severe kidney disease.
Liver
CAUTION
Clozact 50 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Clozact 50 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Regular monitoring of liver function tests is advisable. Inform your doctor if you experience nausea, vomiting and/or weight loss while taking this medicine.

  • Clozact 50 mg Tablet helps treat schizophrenia in people for whom other medicines are ineffective or not tolerated.
  • Take it with or without food, preferably at the same time everyday.
  • It can cause dizziness and sleepiness. Be cautious while driving or doing anything that requires concentration.
  • It may cause low blood pressure and dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids and rise slowly from a sitting or lying position.
  • It may increase your weight, blood sugar and cholesterol. Eat healthy, exercise regularly and monitor your blood levels regularly.
  • Your doctor may get regular blood tests done to monitor your blood cells during treatment with this medicine. Inform your doctor immediately if you notice any signs of infection such as fever, sore throat or rash.
  • Do not stop taking Clozact 50 mg Tablet without talking  to your doctor first as it may cause worsening of symptoms.
