Azidac 500mg Injection

Overview

Introduction

Azidac 500mg Injection is an antibiotic used to treat various types of bacterial infections. It is effective in most infections of the respiratory tract, ear, nose, throat, skin, and eye in adults and children. It is also effective in typhoid fever and some sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea.

Azidac 500mg Injection is also used to treat infections of the pelvic area and reproductive tract in women. It is a broad-spectrum type of antibiotic effective in killing many types of gram-positive bacteria, some types of gram-negative bacteria and other microorganisms. This medicine is given by drip or by direct injection into a vein, under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Precise dosage and duration of treatment will be decided by your doctor based on your underlying condition and response to therapy. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening.

Commonly seen side effects with this medicine include vomiting, nausea, stomach pain, and diarrhea. Some people may also develop pain, swelling or redness at the site of injection occasionally. These are usually temporary and subside with the completion of treatment.  Consult your doctor if you find these side effects worry you or persist for a longer duration.

Inform your doctor if you have any previous history of allergy or heart problems before taking this medicine. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using this medicine.

  • Coping with Vomiting
You can help yourself by eating small, frequent meals rather than large ones and drinking plenty of fluids. Eat slowly. Avoid fatty, fried, spicy and very sweet foods. Eat cold or slightly warm food if the smell of cooked or cooking food makes you feel sick. Get plenty of fresh air. You could also try chewing ginger or drinking ginger tea. There are some medicines that can help you stop feeling sick. Speak to your doctor if your condition does not improve.

  • Coping with Abdominal pain
In most cases, this is mild enough to be treated at home. Try to rest and relax. Putting a heat pad or covered hot water bottle on your stomach may also help. Having a warm bath or shower can help you relax and relieve the pain. Drink plenty of clear fluids such as water and reduce your intake of coffee, tea, lemon juice or soda. Avoid alcohol and smoking as these can aggravate the pain. Eating slowly and having smaller and more frequent meals can also help. If the pain is severe, speak to your doctor. They may be able to guide you better.
  • Coping with Diarrhea
Keep up your intake of fluids and electrolytes (sugars and salts) to avoid getting dehydrated. Eat less fiber (avoid raw fruits, fruit juice and vegetables). Talk to your doctor about possible medication to manage diarrhea. Ask about reducing the dosage of your drug or other suitable treatments.
