Ampian Kid Tablet is an antibiotic medicine with versatile actions. It can treat a multitude of bacterial infections including those of the ears, eyes, nose, tonsils, tooth, throat, lungs, skin, bone, heart, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It may also be prescribed to treat typhoid fever in children.
Ampian Kid Tablet works best on an empty stomach, so try to give it to your child ½ - 1 hour before they eat. However, give it with food if it upsets your child’s stomach. It is generally given three times a day. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor as these depend on the severity of the infection, its type, and your child’s body weight and age. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, repeat the dose when your child feels better. However, do not double the dose if it is the time for the next dose.
Ampian Kid Tablet can cause some minor and temporary side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and mild skin rash. These side effects should ideally subside on their own. But, in case these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without a delay.
Tell your child’s doctor if your child has had any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, and kidney malfunction. Knowledge of your child’s medical history will help the dose make dose alterations and plan your child’s overall treatment.

Ampian Kid Tablet is given to eradicate Salmonella typhi bacteria which is responsible for causing typhoid in children. Keep giving Ampian Kid Tablet to your child as prescribed for it to be effective, even if the symptoms seem to disappear.

What if I forget to give Ampian Kid Tablet to my child?

- Complete the entire course of antibiotics without stopping the medicine in between. Doing so may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
- Make sure your child drinks plenty of water if they develop diarrhea as a side effect.
- Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.
- Give Ampian Kid Tablet to your child only for their current infection. Avoid storing the medicine for future use as it is impossible to judge whether the same medicine would work for any future illnesses.
- Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.

- Diarrhea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics along with Ampian Kid Tablet may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps.
- Take it with food and plenty of fluids to avoid an upset stomach.
- Stop taking this medicine and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it.

Can I give Ampian Kid Tablet to my child repeatedly for a long time?
Giving your child Ampian Kid Tablet for a long term can cause fungal infection (oral thrush) in the mouth and severe gastrointestinal infections (superinfections). Therefore, do not alter the dose and duration on your own and give Ampian Kid Tablet to your child exactly as prescribed. Additionally, irregular treatment, repeated use, and misuse of Ampian Kid Tablet can make the bacteria resistant.
Are there any possible serious side effects of Ampian Kid Tablet?
Although rare, Ampian Kid Tablet may cause some serious side effects such as skin rash, allergy, superinfection, bleeding problems, seizures, and blood cell abnormalities. If your child experiences any such symptoms, consult the doctor at the earliest.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Ampian Kid Tablet?
Ampian Kid Tablet can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Ampian Kid Tablet. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Ampian Kid Tablet?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
In the common cold, the mucus changes its color and thickens up with time, but this does not mean that your child needs antibiotics. Common cold symptoms often last for 7-10 days. In case they fail to clear up within this duration, reach out to your child’s doctor for guidance.
Is Ampian Kid Tablet safe for children suffering from infectious mononucleosis?
No, do not give this medicine to your child in this case as a high percentage of children with infectious mononucleosis develop a skin rash (erythematous rash) while taking Ampian Kid Tablet.
