Amolac 125mg Tablet DT
Prescription Required
Your Child’s Medicine At a Glance
Amolac 125mg Tablet DT is an antibiotic medicine with versatile actions. It can treat a multitude of bacterial infections including those of the ears, eyes, nose, sinus, tonsils, tooth, throat, lungs, skin, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It is also effective against peptic ulcers and pneumonia.
Give Amolac 125mg Tablet DT either with or without food but it is best to give it with food if it upsets your child’s stomach. It is generally given three times a day. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor as these depend on the severity of the infection, its type, and your child’s body weight and age. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, repeat the dose when your child feels better. However, do not double the dose if it is the time for the next dose.
Amolac 125mg Tablet DT can cause some minor and temporary side effects such as nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and mild skin rash. These side effects should ideally subside on their own. But, in case these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without a delay.
Tell your child’s doctor if your child has had any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, and kidney malfunction. Knowledge of your child’s medical history will help the dose make dose alterations and plan your child’s overall treatment.

FAQs
Q. Can I give Amolac 125mg Tablet DT to my child repeatedly for a long time?
Giving your child Amolac 125mg Tablet DT for a long term can cause fungal infection (oral thrush) in the mouth and severe gastrointestinal infections (superinfections). Therefore, do not alter the dose and duration on your own and give Amolac 125mg Tablet DT to your child exactly as prescribed. Additionally, irregular treatment, repeated use, and misuse of Amolac 125mg Tablet DT can make the bacteria resistant.
Q. Are there any possible serious side effects of Amolac 125mg Tablet DT?
Although rare, Amolac 125mg Tablet DT may cause some serious side effects such as persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Always consult your child’s doctor for help in such a situation.
Q. What other medicines should not be given along with Amolac 125mg Tablet DT?
Avoid giving Amolac 125mg Tablet DT along with medicines like aminoglycosides (such as amikacin, gentamicin, streptomycin) and anticoagulants or blood-thinners (such as warfarin). Before you start giving Amolac 125mg Tablet DT to your child, let your child’s doctor know if your child is taking any of the above-mentioned medicines.
Q. Can I vaccinate my child while he is taking Amolac 125mg Tablet DT?
Inform the doctor if your child is taking Amolac 125mg Tablet DT at the time of vaccinations like BCG, cholera, and typhoid as Amolac 125mg Tablet DT can neutralize the effect of these vaccines.
Q. The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
In the common cold, the mucus changes its color and thickens up with time, but this does not mean that your child needs antibiotics. Common cold symptoms often last for 7-10 days. In case they fail to clear up within this duration, reach out to your child’s doctor for guidance.
Q. Is Amolac 125mg Tablet DT safe for children suffering from infectious mononucleosis?
No, do not give this medicine to your child in this case as a high percentage of children with infectious mononucleosis develop a skin rash (erythematous rash) while taking Amolac 125mg Tablet DT.
