How to use AB-Lol Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. AB-Lol 50 mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

How AB-Lol Tablet works

AB-Lol 50 mg Tablet is an alpha and beta blocker. It works by slowing down the heart rate and relaxing blood vessels which makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body.

  • May cause dizziness in the first few days.
  • Check your blood pressure 1 week after starting AB-Lol 50 mg Tablet, and inform your doctor if it hasn't improved.

  • Can hide symptoms of low blood sugar. Be careful if you're diabetic.
  • Should not be discontinued abruptly as it may increase the chances of a heart attack or other heart problems.

Alcohol
CAUTION
Taking Labetalol and alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy
WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS
AB-Lol 50 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
AB-Lol 50 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
AB-Lol 50 mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
SAFE
AB-Lol 50 mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of AB-Lol 50 mg Tablet is recommended.
However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended for better dose adjustment.
Liver
CAUTION
AB-Lol 50 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of AB-Lol 50 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Labetalol is not known to interact with Benadryl (anti-allergy)/ tums (antacid)/ Sudafed (cough medication)/ phentermine (appetite suppressant). Labetalol is known to interact with ibuprofen (pain killer)/ tylenol (pain killer) / aspirin (pain killer)/ paracetamol/ aleve (pain killer). Labetalol interacts with a variety of drugs and hence the doctor's advice must be strictly followed on taking any drug along with it
Ab-lol is known to cause blood sugar/ weight gain/ affect heart rate. It is not usually known to cause insomnia/ weight loss/ constipation/ frequent urination. If any side effect is observed while on therapy with Ab-lol please inform the doctor immediately.
