Product introduction

Versolac 50 Tablet may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time, each day. If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember as it can be life-threatening in some cases, so it is better to keep an extra stock always to avoid a missed dose. You should finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better and always consult your doctor before stopping this medicine as it may increase seizure frequency. Inform your doctor if you have any heart-related problems, before starting your treatment with this medicine.

The use of this medicine may cause some side effects such as headaches, dizziness, dry mouth, muscle spasms, blurred vision, nausea, diplopia (double vision). Most of these side effects are self-limiting and they usually improve with time. Keep a watch on your weight, as using this medicine can cause weight gain. Eat healthily and exercise regularly to manage it.

Versolac 50 Tablet is an anticonvulsant (or anti-epileptic) medicine that works by decreasing the nerve impulses which cause the seizures. It controls the frequency of seizures and helps you go about your daily activities with more confidence. It helps reduce symptoms such as confusion, uncontrollable jerking movements, loss of awareness, and fear or anxiety.This medicine is not associated with any physical or psychological dependence (addiction) but it should not be stopped suddenly. It must be taken regularly as prescribed to be effective. Missing doses may trigger a seizure.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Versolac 50 Tablet is an antiepileptic medication. It slowly inactivates the sodium gated channels, which decreases the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain. Thereby, it controls seizures or fits.

  • Some healthy tips to prevent seizures:
    • Practice yoga every day.
    • Get enough sleep at nighttime.
    • Limit the use of screen time such as mobile/laptop.

  • It may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you.
  • Talk to your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or develop suicidal thoughts.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Versolac with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects
Moderate

Orlistat (Oral Route)

Watch out for symptoms such as tremors. seizures or impaired coordination and consult your doctor if you experience them. Your doctor may consider separating the administration of Orlistat and Lacosamide. Orlistat may reduce efficacy of Lacosamide.

Mexiletine (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your ECG along with your overall treatment.

Amlodipine (Oral Route)

No, you should not stop taking Versolac 50 Tablet even if you start feeling better. Stopping this medicine suddenly may lead to seizures which can be difficult to control. Consult your doctor if you experience any problems while being on treatment with Versolac 50 Tablet. The doctor may adjust the dose or gradually reduce the dose.
No, you need to be careful while driving or operating heavy machinery until and unless you know how Versolac 50 Tablet affects you. You may experience dizziness or drowsiness and blurred vision, especially during the initial days of treatment. These side effects can also be observed if the dose is increased.
If you miss a dose of Versolac 50 Tablet within 6 hours of the scheduled time, take it as soon as you remember. However, if you have forgotten to take the dose for more than 6 hours of the scheduled time then skip the dose and take the next one as scheduled. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed dose.
No, Versolac 50 Tablet is not habit forming. There are no reports which suggest occurrence of withdrawal symptoms following its discontinuation. Versolac 50 Tablet may cause euphoria (patients may feel extremely happy and overwhelmed) in some individuals who may then take it merely for fun (drug abuse). It is possible that such individuals may become psychologically dependent on this medicine.
Versolac 50 Tablet has not been reported to affect fertility in males or females. However, if you are concerned, consult the doctor.
Though no potential side effects have been reported with the use of Versolac 50 Tablet during pregnancy and breastfeeding, it is best to avoid Versolac 50 Tablet during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Versolac 50 Tablet is generally prescribed for long-term use. Keep taking the medicine as advised by your doctor’s advice. However, if you experience any bothersome side effects, talk to your doctor.
Excess of Versolac 50 Tablet may cause dizziness, nausea, vomiting, seizures, shock, heart problems and even coma. If such a situation arises, seek emergency medical support in a nearby hospital.
Be cautious if you are taking Versolac 50 Tablet while on Ritonavir therapy. It is advised to inform your doctor before starting Versolac 50 Tablet. This is because if you are taking Ritonavir for liver or kidney problems then the dose of Versolac 50 Tablet should be modified or reduced.
