Uses

Nitrofurantoin is used to prevent and treat bacterial infections of the bladder, kidney and other parts of the urinary tract (eg. inflammation of the pelvis or outlet of the kidney: pyelitis).

How it works

Nitrofurantoin belongs to a group of medicines called nitrofuran antibiotics. It acts by inhibiting protein synthesis of bacteria.
