Frequently asked questions
Udiliv 600 Tablet should usually be taken with food or milk to help your body absorb it better and to reduce the chance of stomach upset. Taking it at the same time every day helps maintain a steady level of the medicine in your body. If you consume antacids that contain aluminum, they may interfere with how well Udiliv 600 Tablet is absorbed. Taking it with a moderately high-fat meal (e.g., meals containing milk, curd, nuts, or oils) may further help in the absorption of ursodeoxycholic acid by promoting bile secretion.
Udiliv 600 Tablet is generally well tolerated. Common side effects include diarrhea (most frequent), nausea, and abdominal discomfort. These are usually mild and temporary. Rarely, it may alter liver enzyme levels, especially with long-term use, so your doctor may recommend periodic monitoring.
Udiliv 600 Tablet contains ursodeoxycholic acid and is mainly used to dissolve certain cholesterol gallstones and to treat liver diseases such as primary biliary cholangitis. It works by lowering cholesterol levels in bile, improving bile flow, and protecting liver cells from damage. This can help reduce elevated liver enzyme levels and support overall liver function. It should only be used after proper evaluation and diagnosis by your doctor.
Although uncommon, Udiliv 600 Tablet may lead to weight gain, which has been reported in some patients with specific liver conditions, where bile flow was reduced. The likelihood varies depending on the underlying diseases and individual response. If you notice unexpected weight gain while taking Udiliv 600 Tablet, please consult your doctor.
While taking Udiliv 600 Tablet, avoid certain medications, such as antacids, cholestyramine, and colestipol, as they may reduce its effectiveness. Hormonal medications that contain estrogen and drugs such as clofibrate may increase the risk of gallstones and interfere with the treatment. Alcohol should be limited or avoided because it can strain the liver and reduce the protective effects of Udiliv 600 Tablet. Always inform your doctor about all medications, supplements, and your lifestyle habits.
The body typically does not develop resistance to Udiliv 600 Tablet, unlike with antibiotics. However, if gallstones become hardened with calcium and do not dissolve with Udiliv 600 Tablet, or if bile flow does not improve and liver enzyme levels remain elevated, it may indicate progression of the underlying condition.
There are no strict food restrictions while taking Udiliv 600 Tablet, but it is best to avoid very greasy or spicy foods, as they can trigger gallbladder discomfort and worsen symptoms. A balanced, high-fiber diet may support digestion and overall treatment effectiveness. Always follow any specific dietary recommendations your doctor provides.
Udiliv 600 Tablet works by altering bile composition in the gallbladder, creating conditions that allow cholesterol gallstones to slowly dissolve back into liquid bile. This process is gradual and only works for stones primarily made of cholesterol. The gallbladder must still be functioning properly for treatment to be effective. Your doctor may recommend periodic ultrasounds to monitor the treatment progress.
The duration of treatment with Udiliv 600 Tablet depends on your medical condition and response to therapy. For fatty liver disease, it may be prescribed for a few months, while chronic conditions such as primary biliary cholangitis may require long-term use. When taken under medical supervision, Udiliv 600 Tablet is generally safe for extended treatment. Regular blood tests and imaging studies may be needed to monitor your liver function and ensure ongoing safety and effectiveness.
In rare cases, Udiliv 600 Tablet may cause dry skin or a mild rash. Staying well hydrated supports overall health and liver function. Drinking adequate fluids and using a gentle moisturizer may help if mild dryness occurs. If you experience a severe skin reaction, stop taking Udiliv 600 Tablet and contact your doctor immediately.
You should seek immediate medical attention if you develop severe right-sided abdominal pain, intense yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), or severe and persistent diarrhea. These symptoms may indicate a blocked bile duct or a rare, serious reaction. Any unusual or worsening symptoms should be reported to your doctor promptly.
