TOTALAX SYRUP is used in liver disease and constipation. It may also be used to treats and prevent complications of liver disease (hepatic encephalopathy).

How to use Totalax Syrup

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. TOTALAX SYRUP may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Totalax Syrup works

TOTALAX SYRUP works by drawing water into the intestine through osmosis, which makes the stool soft and easier to pass.

What if you miss a dose of Totalax Syrup?

If you miss a dose of TOTALAX SYRUP, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

Expert Advice

  • Some healthy tips to prevent constipation from happening:
    • Eat more fiber in your diet. Recommended daily intake is 20-35g
    • Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day
    • Exercise regularly at least 3 times per week
    • Do not hold in stool as that can worsen bowel issues
  • TOTALAX SYRUP is used for the treatment of constipation.
  • It should preferably be taken at bedtime as it requires 6 to 8 hours to show impact.
  • It is usually taken once a day as needed for up to 2 weeks. Do not take a larger dose, take it more often, or take it for a longer period of time than your doctor tells you to.
  • Take it atleast 2 hours after taking other medicines, as it may interfere with the absorption of other medicines.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of stomach disorders such as appendicitis or a blockage in your bowel.

Lactulose may interact with antibiotics, omeprazole, and Gaviscon/calcium carbonate. Senokot/senna, Fybogel/ispaghula when taken with lactulose may result in diarrhea. No interactions have been observed when lactulose is taken with warfarin, iron tablets, and paracetamol

Totalax contains lactose, galactose, and small amounts of fructose. Do not take Totalax if you have intolerance to these sugars.
