How to use Tonact Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Tonact 20 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Tonact Tablet works

Tonact 20 Tablet is a lipid-lowering medication (statin). It works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-CoA-reductase) that is required in the body to make cholesterol. It thus lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides and raises "good" cholesterol (HDL).

Taking Atorvastatin with alcohol may increase the risk of liver damage.
Pregnancy
CAUTION
Tonact 20 Tablet is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Human and animal studies have shown significant adverse effects on the foetus. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
Tonact 20 Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving

Tonact 20 Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
SAFE
Tonact 20 Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Tonact 20 Tablet is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Liver
CAUTION
Tonact 20 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Tonact 20 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Tonact 20 Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.

What if you miss a dose of Tonact Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Tonact 20 Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

  • Tonact 20 Tablet treats high cholesterol by lowering "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides (fats). Take it along with regular exercise and low-fat diet.
  • It also reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke.
  • In general, Tonact 20 Tablet is safe. It may cause diarrhoea, gas or an upset stomach. If any of these happen to you, take it with food.
  • Inform your doctor if you experience fatigue, muscle weakness or muscle pain. 
  • Your doctor may monitor your liver function before starting treatment and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you notice signs of liver problem such as yellowing of skin or eyes, unusually dark urine or stomach pains.
  • Inform your doctor  if you have kidney disease, liver disease or diabetes.  If you are diabetic, monitor your blood sugar level regularly  as Tonact 20 Tablet may cause an increase in your blood sugar level.
  • Do not take Tonact 20 Tablet if you are pregnant or planning to conceive.

Tonact tg contains two drugs atorvastatin and fenofibrate which helps to reduce ldl increase hdl cholesterol and to reduce triglyceride level whereas tonact 20 only contains atorvastatin which helps to reduce ldl and increase hdl cholesterol only.

Hello, as i can see u are taking meds for diabetes, and for high cholesterol also patients with bith these diseases and high bp are at risk to develop heart problems, so any pain in left side or say in chest shouldn't be ignored consult cardiologist for periodic examination of heart meanwhile take syp algel 1-2 tsf twice daily for 1 week
