Thyronorm 25 mcg Tablet is a synthetic version of a hormone produced by the thyroid gland. It works by replacing the thyroid hormones that your thyroid gland cannot produce and relieves the symptoms of hypothyroidism (tiredness, weight gain, and depression).

  • Your doctor has prescribed Thyronorm 25 mcg Tablet to replace the natural thyroid hormone that your own thyroid gland can no longer make.
  • It is best to take it on an empty stomach (ideally, first thing in the morning). No food, milk, or tea should be taken 1 hour before and 2 hours after taking this medicine.
  • It may take 6 to 8 weeks to get the full effect.
  • For most people, Thyronorm 25 mcg Tablet is a lifelong medication. Do not discontinue it without first discussing with your doctor.
  • Inform your doctor if you have diarrhoea, nervousness, irritability, feeling of a heartbeat, sleep disturbances, shaking hands, or chest pain. Your doctor may adjust your dose.
  • Leave a gap of at least 4 hours before taking any antacids, calcium or iron supplements, and multivitamins, as these may interfere with the effect of the medicine.
  • Get your hormone levels checked regularly and inform your doctor if you notice a significant change in your body weight. The dose may need to be adjusted.
  • Inform your doctor before changing the brand of Thyronorm 25 mcg Tablet as all brands may not have the same effect.

My wife is a Thyriod patient and she was taking 75mg Thyronorm tab along with some homeopathy treatment from last 2 years. Since she was not getting relief she just stopped taking homeopathy. Grapefruit juice slightly decreases the absorption of levothyroxine when taken together otherwise there is no major interaction between these two.

Yes. Vitamins can be added to your diet and can be taken with Thyronorm, but you should not take vitamin supplement within four hours of taking your thyroid medication.
