Overview

Introduction

Terbifin Cream is used to treat a wide range of fungal infections of the skin and nails, including ringworm. It works by killing the fungus that causes the infection.

Terbifin Cream is for external use only. It should be used in the dose and duration suggested by the doctor. Applying it at the same time every day will help you remember to use it. The affected area should be clean and dry before application of the ointment. You must wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying this medicine. Do not stop using it until you have finished the complete course, even when you feel better. If you stop using this medicine too early, the fungus may continue to grow and the infection may return or worsen.

The most common side effects of this medicine include application site reactions like burning, irritation, itching, and redness. These are usually mild but let your doctor know if they bother you or last more than a few days. Avoid direct contact with eyes, nose, or mouth. If accidental exposure occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water. You must inform your doctor if there’s no improvement even after four weeks of treatment.

It is not likely that other medicines you take by mouth or injection will affect the way it works but talk to your doctor before using it if you have used a similar medicine before and had an allergic reaction. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctor before using it.

FAQs

Q. How long does it take for Terbifin to work on the skin?

Terbifin being an antifungal medicine acts on the skin and cures superficial fungal infections. The usual dosage of Terbifin is once or twice daily. The duration of the treatment varies from 1 to 2 weeks depending upon the type of fungal skin infection. The doctor may even extend the duration of the therapy depending upon the person’s response to the medication. You will be able to notice the response of the drug within a few days, but you still need to continue the medication for the prescribed duration to cure the fungal infection completely. Do not stop the therapy without completing the course.

Q. How long can I use Terbifin?

Terbifin usually takes a few days to relieve the symptoms. But, since fungal infections affect multiple layers of the skin, you may need to continue the medication for the prescribed duration to get cured completely. For various fungal infections, the duration of treatment varies from 1 to 2 weeks and can be extended up to 4 weeks. Irregular use or stopping the treatment before the prescribed time increases the risk of relapse of the infection. In case you do not notice any improvement in your symptoms within the prescribed duration, kindly consult your doctor immediately.

Q. What is Terbifin?

Terbifin is an antifungal medication which is used to treat superficial fungal infections. It acts by damaging the cell wall of the fungus which leads to the death of the fungal cell. It is used to treat fungal infections like pityriasis versicolor which causes white spots on the face, athlete’s foot, ringworm and jock itch.

Q. How do we apply Terbifin on skin?

Clean and dry the affected skin properly. Then, apply a thin layer of Terbifin on and around the affected skin. Rub it in gently. Do not cover the area after applying the cream unless specified by the doctor. However, if infection is present under the breasts, between the fingers, buttocks or in the groin, then the cream should be applied properly and the skin may be covered with a sterile dressing. Avoid contact of medication with the eyes, nose, mouth, or other mucous membranes. Inform your doctor in case of any signs of increased irritation, redness, itching, burning, blistering, swelling, or oozing.

Q. Is Terbifin safe in children?

Terbifin has been approved for use only in patients above 12 years of age. The safety of the medication has not been approved in the pediatric population. Refrain from using it in children less than 12 years of age unless prescribed by the doctor.
