Sudopen 500 mg Injection is used in severe bacterial infections. It is used in infections of various body parts like skin and soft tissues, urinary tract, blood, brain and lungs (pneumonia).

How Sudopen Injection works
Sudopen 500 mg Injection is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from forming the bacterial protective covering which is needed for them to survive.

Sudopen 500 mg Injection is probably safe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Sudopen 500 mg Injection is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
It is not known whether Sudopen 500 mg Injection alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.

  • Sudopen 500 mg Injection is used to treat severe bacterial infections, including those acquired in hospital and those involving many different types of bacteria.
  • Tell you doctor if you are allergic to penicillin as this medicine should be avoided or used with caution in penicillin allergy.
  • Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it doesn't stop or if you find blood in your stools.
  • It is given by a drip into a vein (intravenous infusion) over 20 to 60 minutes.
  • Your doctor may monitor your liver and kidney function while you are having treatment with this medication.

Q. What is Sudopen used for?
Sudopen is used to treat complicated urinary tract infections including pyelonephritis (inflammation of kidney due to bacterial infections), and complicated bacterial infections of the abdomen. Sudopen is also used to treat some nosocomial infections (infections acquired in the hospital facility) such as nosocomial pneumonia

Yes, Sudopen is active against pseudomonas, but not against MRS

Sudopen belongs to class of medications called carbapenem antimicrobials. It works by arresting the bacterial cell wall synthesis resulting in bacterial cell death.
