Satrogyl-O Tablet


Overview

Introduction

Satrogyl-O Tablet is a combination of two antibiotics that effectively treats diarrhea and dysentery. It kills the microorganisms to treat the infection.

Satrogyl-O Tablet is a prescription medicine that can be taken with or without food. Take the medicine in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not consume more than the recommended dose, as this may have harmful effects on your body. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. The treatment must be completed even if you feel better.

Satrogyl-O Tablet may lead to some side effects such as nausea, dryness of mouth, stomach upset, etc. To overcome any such side effects, it is advised to eat a healthy balanced diet and drink plenty of fluid. If any of the side effects get aggravated, contact your doctor immediately. In cases of severe liver or kidney disease it is advised to consult your doctor before you start with the treatment. It is strictly advised not to drive or operate heavy machinery while you are on the treatment.

How to use Satrogyl-O Tablet

How Satrogyl-O Tablet works

Satrogyl-O Tablet is a combination of two antibiotics: Satranidazole and Ofloxacin. Satranidazole kills parasites and anaerobic bacteria that cause infections by damaging their DNA. Ofloxacin works by preventing the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing the bacteria. Together, they treat your infection effectively.

Consuming alcohol while taking Satrogyl-O Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
Pregnancy

Satrogyl-O Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation

Satrogyl-O Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Driving
UNSAFE
Satrogyl-O Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney

  • Diarrhea can cause dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids to help rehydrate you.

Q. Can the use of Satrogyl-O cause dizziness?

Yes, the use of Satrogyl-O can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady or lightheaded) in some patients. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, it is better if you rest for some time and resume once you feel better.

Q. Can I take Satrogyl-O along with Ibuprofen?

Few patients have had seizures (fit) on taking anti-inflammatory medicines (ibuprofen) with quinolone antibiotics (ofloxacin). This is very unlikely to happen. But to be safe, do not take ibuprofen with one of these antibiotics, unless your doctor has told you to take it.

Q. Can I take alcohol while taking Satrogyl-O?

Alcohol should not be consumed while you are taking this medicine as it may lower the blood pressure and causes dizziness and lightheadedness.

Q. Can I take Satrogyl-O while I am breastfeeding?

The use of Satrogyl-O should be used with caution by nursing mothers as it can lead to serious side effects. It is always better to consult your doctor before taking $nam.

Q. Can I take Satrogyl-O if I have diabetes?

Satrogyl-O, when taken along with insulin or some other diabetes medication, increases the risk of having low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). This happens due to the presence of ofloxacin in it. Check your blood sugar often. If your blood sugar gets too low, stop taking the medicine and call your doctor. A change in the dose or medication may be needed.

Q. What if I don't get better after using Satrogyl-O?

Inform your doctor if you don't feel better after finishing the full course of treatment. Also, inform him if your symptoms are getting worse while using this medicine.

Q. Can I stop taking Satrogyl-O when I feel better?

No, do not stop taking Satrogyl-O and complete the full course of treatment even if you are feeling better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.

Q. What if I miss my dose?

Take Satrogyl-O as soon as you remember it. However, do not take it if it's almost time for your next dose. Also, do not take an extra dose to make up for your missed dose.

Q. What are the instructions for storage and disposal of Satrogyl-O?

Keep this medicine in the container or the pack it came in, tightly closed. Store it according to the instructions mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children and other people.
