Expert advice FOR REFZIL injection

  • Discontinue the use of cefpirome if you develop severe allergic reactions.
  • Inform your doctor if you are taking penicillins, as taking cephalosporins with penicillins may cause allergic reactions.
  • You may be monitored with renal function tests during treatment with combinations of cefpirome and furosemide or ethacrynic acid type and aminoglycosides antibiotics.
  • Take precautions while using cefpirome for longer duration (>10 days) along with beta-lactam antibiotics as you may develop granulocytopenia and, more rarely, agranulocytosis. You may be monitored with regular blood test.
  • Do not take live bacterial vaccines (BCG, typhoid) while on cefpirome therapy.
  • You must be aware that severe and persistent diarrhea may occur with cefpriome during treatment or in the weeks following discontinuation.
