Phacovisc Injection

Phacovisc Injection is generally given by a doctor or a nurse. You should not self-administer this medicine. You should use it regularly at a fixed time each day. Taking it at the same time every day will help you remember to take it. It may take several days to get the full benefit of this drug. Do not stop taking the medicine until your doctor tells you it is alright to stop.

The medicine is generally well-tolerated with little or no side effects. However, it may cause injection site reactions such as pain, redness, and swelling in some people. Let your doctor know if you experienced any such side effects. Your doctor may be able to suggest ways of preventing or reducing the side effects.

Before using this medicine, let your doctor know if you have any medical conditions or disorders. To make sure the medicine is safe for you, let your doctor also know all the other medicines you are taking. You may need frequent medical tests to check your kidney function and mineral levels while on treatment with this medicine. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctors before using this medicine.

Phacovisc Injection is a combination of two medicines: Sodium Hyaluronate and Chondroitin which treat osteoarthritis. Sodium Hyaluronate is the salt form of hyaluronic acid which reduces the friction in the joints and helps them to work smoothly. Chondroitin is a dietary supplement and a vital part of cartilage (a smooth elastic tissue that protects the bones and maintains their structure). Taking chondroitin can prevent cartilage breaking down and can also stimulate its repair mechanisms.
