Introduction of Nugine Tablet

Nugine 0.125 mg Tablet is a medicine used to control bleeding from the uterus, that may occur after childbirth or an abortion. It may also be used for the active management of labor.

Nugine 0.125 mg Tablet acts on the smooth muscle of the uterus and increases tone, rate and amplitude of contractions thus, reduces blood loss. This medicine should be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time. It causes side effects like headache, increase in blood pressure and seizure. Thus, it should be avoided in patients with high blood pressure and heart disease.

How to use Nugine Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Nugine 0.125 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Nugine Tablet works

Nugine 0.125 mg Tablet is an ergot alkaloid. It works by causing sustained contractions of the smooth muscles of the uterus. This results in compression of the blood vessels which controls bleeding after delivery.

Nugine 0.125 mg Tablet is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy. Seek your doctor's advice as studies on pregnant women and animals have shown significant harmful effects to the developing baby.
Lactation
CAUTION
Nugine 0.125 mg Tablet should be used with caution during breatfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.
Driving

4 months post delivery now. im getting my periods every 15 days n bleeding lasts for 15 to 20 days which means theres no bleeding for only 5 days to a week. if i take trapic mf tablet for 3 days will it completely stop bleeding? or is there any other medicine to stop bleeding in next 2 to 3 days. i hv to take the new born to temple as it got postponed for 4 months n cannot be done this time. im feeding the baby as well.

Trapic is a good medicine to stop the bleeding. However it will not cure the problem. I suggest you get an ultrasound scan done and check for the problem.
My wife is 5 months post partum normal vaginal delivery. She is having bleeding during defecation with mild pain in abdomen since 10-12 days. On Per Rectum examination by surgeon revealed grade 1 hemorrhoids he adviced Sitcom forte tablet and hot sitz bath for hemorrhoids and tab. ciprofloxacin 500mg BD, tab. Metronidazole 400mg Tds for 5 days for suspecting colitis. I wanted to know is it safe to give these 2 antibiotics in lactation? Any other advice?

Hi Anjsni. Welcome to 1mgdoctors. These medicines are safe during lactation. But beware sometimes it might cause a mild diarrhoea to the baby. So keep feeding the baby a little extra and keep her well hydrated.
