Your child’s medicine at a glance

Give Nmsd Tablet to your child orally, preferably at a fixed time, either before or after food. In case your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with food. The usually prescribed frequency is twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of intake, repeat the same dose but never double up the dose if it is time for the next dose. The dose and duration depend upon the type and severity of the infection, your child’s age, and body weight, so stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor.

Some children may develop minor and temporary side effects after taking this medicine. These include nausea, vomiting, metallic taste, headache, loss of appetite, abdominal cramps, and mild skin rash. These side effects usually go away once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, in case they persist for long or start bothering your child, you must consult your child’s doctor without any delay.

Your child’s doctor must be aware if your child has ever had any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. This will guide the doctor in planning your child’s overall treatment.

Nmsd Tablet is an antibiotic medicine given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial and protozoal infections. These infections may include tooth abscess, gum infection, pneumonia, diarrhea, dysentery, burning sensation while passing urine, and genital tract infection.Nmsd Tablet inhibits the growth of infection-causing organisms by stopping them from multiplying. It is most likely that your child’s infection will start showing improvement within 3 to 5 days of the regular dosing. Nmsd Tablet helps to treat diarrhea that is caused due to bacteria or parasitic worm infections. This medicine can relieve frequent loose motions and also help you to stay well by preventing them from coming back. You should drink plenty of fluids while taking it to make sure you stay hydrated.

Dysentery or amoebic dysentery is a parasitic infection of the intestines that occurs mostly due to intake of contaminated food or water. The symptoms include loose stools (diarrhea), stomach cramps and stomach pain. Nmsd Tablet helps to treat this infection by killing the infection causing parasites. It relieves these symptoms and also helps you to stay well by preventing them from coming back. You need to take this medicine regularly to get the most out of it and you should drink plenty of fluids while taking it to make sure you stay hydrated.

Nmsd Tablet does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Consult your child’s doctor if these side effects persist or bother your child. The most common side effects include-

How Nmsd Tablet works

Nmsd Tablet is an antibiotic, having metronidazole and norfloxacin as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.

If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water.
Nmsd Tablet may cause an altered taste. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help.
Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Nmsd Tablet as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.
Your child must complete the entire course of Nmsd Tablet. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Discontinue Nmsd Tablet and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing.
Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.

My child is having a genetic deficiency of the G6PD enzyme. Is it safe to give Nmsd Tablet?

It is advised that you get your child’s G6PD deficiency evaluated before starting the course of treatment. Avoid giving Nmsd Tablet as deficiency of G6PD enzymes can lead to breaking of blood cells resulting in severe anemia.

Can Nmsd Tablet be given along with cough and cold medicines?

No, do not give Nmsd Tablet with cough and cold medicines. Nmsd Tablet can interact with alcohol-containing medicines like cough syrups and cause disulfiram reaction, leading to side effects such as nausea, vomiting, flushing, dizziness, etc.

What if I give excess Nmsd Tablet by mistake?

An extra dose of Nmsd Tablet is unlikely to cause any harm. But, you must still be vigilant because overdose increases the risk of unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heartbeat. Rush to your child’s doctor on an immediate basis if you notice any of these symptoms. If you think you have given too much Nmsd Tablet to your child, immediately speak to a doctor.

What should I do if my child shows no improvement even after taking Nmsd Tablet for the prescribed duration?

Speak to your child’s doctor if your child does not show any improvement even after completing the dose. It could mean that the medicine is not able to act against the infection-causing bacteria. Your child’s doctor may change Nmsd Tablet and prescribe some other antibiotic which is known to have a stronger impact on the infection-causing bacteria.

Can other medicines be given at the same time as Nmsd Tablet?

Nmsd Tablet can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Nmsd Tablet. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Nmsd Tablet?

Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.

What should I tell the doctor before giving Nmsd Tablet to my child?

Inform the doctor if your child is suffering from heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (allergy from sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because there is a possibility that Nmsd Tablet may aggravate these conditions and result in complications.
