MEtron 400mg Tablet medicine is best taken after eating some food. It should be taken at the same time each day to maximize its benefits. Take the medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking it until you have finished the full course of treatment, even if you feel better. If you stop taking it early, some bacteria may survive, and the infection may come back.

The most common side effects of this medicine are nausea, headache, and anorexia (loss of appetite). These are usually mild, but let your doctor know if they bother you or last more than a few days. You can try sugar-free candies or lozenges if you experience dry mouth or a metallic taste in your mouth.

Before using MEtron 400mg Tablet, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, allergic to any medicine, have kidney or liver problems, or have a nervous system disease. Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine and for a few days after stopping it, as you may experience unpleasant side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain.

MEtron 400mg Tablet may make you feel sleepy, dizzy, confused. You may have hallucinations, fits (convulsions) or temporary eyesight problems (such as blurred or double vision) affecting your ability to drive.

Kidney

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

MEtron 400mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment is recommended.
Patients undergoing kidney dialysis should take this medicine after the dialysis treatment.

Liver

CAUTION

MEtron 400mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.

Taking MEtron with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Moderate

Disulfiram (Oral Route)

Do not consume Metronidazole with Disulfiram. If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as constipation, confusion or psychosis and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Disulfiram may reduce blood levels of active form of Metronidazole.

Moderate

Phenobarbitone (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Phenobarbitone may increase the metabolism of Metronidazole.

Moderate

Phenobarbitone (Injection Route)

If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Phenobarbitone may increase the metabolism of Metronidazole.

Primidone (Oral Route)
