Maxolid DS Dry Syrup is used in the treatment of severe bacterial infections. It is used for the treatment of bacterial infections of lungs (Pneumonia), skin & soft tissues.

How to use Maxolid Dry Syrup

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Dissolve the powder in sterile water. Shake well and use. Maxolid DS Dry Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Avoid Maxolid DS Dry Syrup with tyramine-rich food such as cheese, smoked fish, meats and some types of beer.

Driving

Kidney
SAFE
Maxolid DS Dry Syrup is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Maxolid DS Dry Syrup is recommended.
However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Liver
Maxolid DS Dry Syrup should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Maxolid DS Dry Syrup may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Limited information is available on the use of Maxolid DS Dry Syrup in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate liver disease.

Yes, the use of Maxolid can cause diarrhea. It is an antibiotic which kills the harmful bacteria. However, it also affects the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. If you are experiencing severe diarrhea, talk to your doctor about it.

Q. What foods should I avoid while taking Maxolid?

You should avoid taking large quantities of food that contain high tyramine in it. Foods that are fermented, cured, aged or spoiled contain high amount of tyramine e.g cheese, red wine, pickle, over ripe fruits etc. Consuming tyramine while taking Maxolid can result in elevation of blood pressure, which may result in an emergency situation.
