Anxiety is the result of a hyperarousal state of nervous system due to a low threshold for threat perception. In simpler words, it's an ongoing flight or fight response. It can elicit a neuro-hormonal response understood as Flight or Fright reaction kicking in physiological cascade of symptoms ranging from palpitations, tachycardia, breathlessness, increased bowel movement, increase frequency of urination, dizziness, muscle tension or pain, trembling, dizziness, blurring of vision to restlessness, confusion and fainting spells. Chronic stress causes prolonged anxiety response with the consequences of slowed me ration, lack of concentration, headaches, fluctuations in blood pressure and increased wear and tear of body tissues. Identifying your stressors, learning to deal with them, de stressing regularly by doing something that makes one feel good, yoga and meditation are some non pharmacological strategies to deal with it. Siezures are due to electrophysiological disturbance in brain and anti convulsants are the treatment of choice. If the condition is persisting for a long time, it's better to see a psychiatrist.

FAQs

Q. What is Maxnerve PG and what is it used for?

Maxnerve PG belongs to anticonvulsants class of medicines. It is used to treat seizures and anxiety. It is also helpful in treating nerve pain (neuropathic pain) which could be due to diabetes, shingles, or injury. It is also used in fibromyalgia (a long-lasting condition that may cause pain, muscle stiffness and tenderness, tiredness, and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep).

Q. Maxnerve PG has varied roles, does it work in the same way for each disease?

No, Maxnerve PG works in different ways for different diseases. In epilepsy, it stops seizures by reducing the abnormal electrical activity in the brain. In anxiety, it stops your brain from releasing chemicals that make you feel anxious. In nerve pain, it blocks pain messages travelling from brain to spine.

Q. I have been prescribed Maxnerve PG for pain due to shingles. When can I expect relief from pain?

For pregabalin to work, the medicine requires time. It may require a few weeks to see full benefits. However, people have felt relief from pain after a week of starting Maxnerve PG.

Q. How long do I need to take Maxnerve PG?

Duration for the use of Maxnerve PG depends on the condition for which you are taking this medicine. If you are taking it for epilepsy, which if controlled by Maxnerve PG, you may have to continue it for years. If you are taking it for pain or anxiety, it is likely that once your symptoms have gone you will have to continue taking it for several months to ensure stopping the problem from coming back.

Q. Is it necessary to continue taking Maxnerve PG even if I feel fine?

Even if you feel fine, you should not stop Maxnerve PG. If you are taking it for epilepsy and suddenly stop its consumption, you may have seizures that will not stop. If you are taking it for any other reason you may experience anxiety, difficulty in sleeping, feeling sick, pain, and sweating. These can be prevented if dose of Maxnerve PG is reduced gradually.

Q. Is Maxnerve PG addictive?

Addiction is more common in people who take Maxnerve PG for unauthorized indications and take it more than the dose prescribed. A person with a history of previous drug abuse should not be prescribed Maxnerve PG. Long-term use of pregabalin may result in addiction in some people. Inform your doctor if you feel you are becoming physically dependent on Maxnerve PG.

Q. Can I take diazepam and Maxnerve PG together?

Yes, Maxnerve PG and diazepam can be used together but there might be a chance of increased side effects, since both act on the brain to depress excessive activity.

Q. Can Maxnerve PG and gabapentin be taken together for fibromyalgia?

Yes, they can be used together but chances of side effects may be higher with their combined use.
